Examination Advanced level

Below you will find information about what to expect from a course on Advanced level and what you as a student should pay attention to before taking an exam on ISTQB Advanced level arranged by SSTB.

Modules

  • Test Manager, TM, English, Swedish
  • Test Analyst, TA, English
  • Technical Test Analyst, TTA, English

At each occasion it is possible to take the exam for any of the modules. You indicate the module in the application.

Examination content

  • 65 questions (TM)
    60 questions (TA)
    45 questions (TTA)
  • All questions are Multiple Choice questions
    - Choose 1 of 4 options
    - Choose 2 of 5 options
    - Choose 3 of 7 options
  • Some questions build on a scenario
  • Each question can give 1, 2 or 3 points
    - K2-question: 1 point
    - K3-question: 1, 2 or 3 points
    - K4-question: 2 or 3 points
  • The number of points at K3/K4 depends on the degree of difficulty
  • No penalties (minus points) for wrong answers
  • Totally 100 points
  • 65 points or more are needed to pass

Duration of exam

Test Manager
Exam in Swedish: 3:00 (if your native lanquage is not Swedish and you do not master Swedish the time is 3:45)
Exam in English: 3:00 (if English is not your native language the time is 3:45)

Test Analyst
Exam in English: 3:00 (if English is not your native language the time is 3:45)

Technical Test Analyst
Exam in English: 2:00 (if English is not your native language the time is 2:30)


Prerequisite for taking part in an AL exam

To take an exam on AL you need an ISTQB certificate from Foundation level or an equivalent diploma (e.g. ISEB).
